Dear Simon,
I suppose the best story is that when we told our builder that we had decided to order our kitchen cabinets out of Atlanta, he was very hesitant to use an out of town source. Then when he understood that they were actually manufactured in and shipped from EUROPE he had an appoplectic fit. He insisted that the cabinets would never fit, that installation would be impossible, that any problem would be hard to rectify, and most importantly that the cabinets would hold us up and we would never finish the house on schedule.
We refused to be dissuaded—— And of course the rest is history. The cabinets came in exactly on time, which was absolutely the ONLY thing in the house that did. The installation was perfect and I still remember our builder saying, “Who WERE those guys?”
Another story is that I don’t cook—-and come from a long line of “non-cookers”. My only requirement was that the design be wonderful—–which it is. It is truely our favorite room in the house even though we mostly just sit in it. And last, we had one fellow come in that does fine custom woodwork—-he took one look at the cabinets and said, “Well, I know you didn’t get it here!” We may live in the “Red Neck Riviera” but people can still recognize great design and craftsmanship.
